US stock futures moved higher on Friday as investors awaited August consumer inflation data ahead of the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate decision next week. At 02:57 ET (06:57 GMT), Dow futures were up 232 points, or 0.

Consumer prices rose at a 3.4% annual rate last month, the same pace as July, according to the latest Consumer Price Index from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Stock Market Today: The Dow Jones index and the Nasdaq composite rally Friday as investors take in stride a surprise in CPI inflation.

The inflation report could lock in expectations for a Fed rate hike next week.

US stock index futures pointed to a higher open on Friday as crude oil prices declined and investors assessed the latest consumer inflation data following several sessions of equity market losses. US crude futures fell nearly 3%, moving back below $100 a barrel after rising more than 12% since the beginning of the week.

Dow Jones: ⬇️ Sell Dow Jones index recently broke through the support zone located between the key support level 52825.00 (which has been reversing the price from August), 61.8% Fibonacci correction of the upward impulse I from July and the support trendline of the daily up channel from April.

The first of two inflation reports due this week is in focus as oil prices rise.

The August Producer Price Index from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics showed a monthly expansion of 0.4%, lifting headline figures to an annual rate of 5.4%.

The Dow Jones fell 300 points on Thursday, taking its cumulative four-day drop to over 1,600 points. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq fell 0.6% each, and have relatively outperformed the Dow during the course of the week by not falling as much.

But futures were mixed, with S&P 500 futures marginally up, while Dow and Nasdaq futures slightly eased.
